1. MC Mary Kom: appointed chairman of the Champions and Veterans Committee

✔️ Six-time world champion MC Mary Kom was elected as the chairman of the 'Champions and Veterans' committee of the International Boxing Association (AIBA).

✔️ The panel was formed by the World Association last year.

✔️ 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Mary Kom was elected to the post after voting on the board of directors of AIBA.

2. Udaipur, Tripura: Udaipur Science Center inaugurated

✔️ The Governor of Tripura, Ramesh Bais inaugurated the Udaipur Science Center in Udaipur, Tripura.

✔️ The Udaipur Science Center has been developed at a cost of Rs 6 crores which is jointly funded by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India as well as the Department of Science and Technology & Environment of Tripura, along with it the National Council of Science Museums (National Council of Science Museums-NCSM) has been established science centers in all the North Eastern states.

✔️ Science centers play an important role in developing a scientific temperament in society and a culture of innovation among the common people, especially among the students.

✔️ The NCSM and the Ministry of Culture play an important role in spreading scientific awareness.

✔️ The Udaipur Science Center is the 22nd science center developed by the NCSM and handed over to the state governments under the scheme of the Ministry of Culture for the promotion of science culture.

✔️ NCSM will open 4 more science centers in different parts of India during 2021.

 

3. Arunachal Pradesh: Deputy Chief Minister presented the state budget

✔️ Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chouna Mein, who is also the Finance Minister, presented the state budget 2021-22 on 3 March 2021.

✔️ The state has reduced the fiscal deficit from 2.28 percent in the last financial year to 2.19 percent this time.

️ The government will initiate a major project to develop three model villages on a pilot basis in the Indo-Tibet China border areas.

 

4. Gujarat: Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel presented the budget

✔️ In Gujarat, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel presented the budget for the year 2021-22 at the state assembly in Gandhinagar on 3 March 2021.

✔️ There is a total outlay of Rs 2,27,029 crore in the budget.

✔️ This is the largest outlay of the state budget so far in Gujarat.

✔️ Nitin Patel has also announced a record allocation of  Rupees 11,323 crore for health and family welfare.

 

5. Jharkhand: Finance Minister Dr. Rameshwar Oraon presented the state budget for 2021-22

✔️ Finance Minister Dr. Rameshwar Oraon in Jharkhand presented the budget for the year 2021-22 in the state assembly in Ranchi on 3 March 2021.

✔️ Compared to the 2020 budget, the budget has a total of Rs 91,277 crore, with an increase of over Rs 7,100 crore.

✔️ The budget includes revenue expenditure of Rs 75755.01 crore and capital expenditure of Rs 15521.99 crore.

 

6. Anpreet Vohra: Appointed as the High Commissioner of India to Australia

✔️ Senior diplomat, Manpreet Vohra has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to Australia.

✔️ Vohra, a 1988 batch Indian Foreign Service-IFS officer, is currently India's ambassador to Mexico.

7. CSMT: The First station to get IGBC Gold Certification

8. World Bank: Launched $ 100 Million Guarantee Scheme for Solar Rooftop Projects

✔️ The World Bank plans to launch a $ 100 million credit guarantee scheme to boost India's rooftop solar program, which has not gained enough traction.

✔️ The scheme will allow micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to avail concessional loan financing for setting up rooftop solar units.

️ The State Bank of India (SBI) and the Ministry of MSME as well as the World Bank's plan to accelerate the adoption of rooftop solar units will help MSME to use about $ 1 billion in loans.

✔️ This arrangement will be beneficial for firms that often do not meet the lending criteria of banks and other financial institutions, with their financial crisis aggravated by the covid-19 epidemic.

 

9. Railway Minister: Kotdwar-Delhi Junction-Kotdwar Siddhbali Jan Shatabdi Special Train gets green signal

✔️ Railway Minister Piyush Goyal flagged off the Kotdwar-Delhi Junction-Kotdwar Siddhbali Janshatabdi special train on 3 March 2021 through video conferencing.

✔️ The electrification of Kotdwar-Delhi route is almost complete.

✔️ The train will connect Kotdwar with the national capital.

10. SBI Mutual Funds: First Overseas Fund Launched

✔️ State Bank of India (SBI) Mutual Fund has launched its first foreign offering on 1 March 2021.

✔️ A fund named SBI International Access - US Equity is an open-ended fund of fund scheme investing in the FOF Mutual Fund Scheme / ETF, which invests in the US markets, which are domiciled overseas.

✔️ The plan will typically invest 95–100 percent of its net assets in the Amundi Fund - the US Pioneer Fund (including ETF), which invests primarily in the US markets.


11. Karnataka: country's first 'Engineering Research and Development' (ER&D) policy launched

✔️ Recently, Karnataka has launched the country's first 'Engineering Research and Development' (ER&D) policy.

✔️ Under this policy, multi-national corporation (MNC) entities other than Bengaluru urban district will be offered 50% reimbursement of rent up to Rs 2 crore.

✔️ To promote innovation, the government will fund colleges for various projects and will also bear the cost of developing industry-oriented courses in colleges and universities.

 

12. Government amended the Insurance Ombudsman Rules 2017

✔️ The Government of India has notified comprehensive amendments to the Insurance Ombudsman Rules, 2017, to better address the grievances of the insured in a timely, cost-effective and fair manner, regarding the shortcomings of the insurance service.

✔️ This will help in facilitating the resolution of complaints regarding deficiencies in insurance services in a timely, cost-effective and fair manner.

✔️ The Lokpal system was administered by the Executive Council of Insurance Companies. Now its name has been changed to Insurance Ombudsman Council.

✔️ Earlier, the scope of complaints to the Lokpal was limited to disputes only, but has now been extended to include deficiencies in service on behalf of insurers, agents, brokers and other middlemen.

 

13. Indigenously developed "Spectrograph" established in Nainital

️ Aryabhatta Research Institute of observational sciences-ARIES, Aryabhatta Research Institute of Indian Scientists, Nainital designed and developed a low-cost optical spectrograph as the ARIES - Devastal Phant Object Spectrograph and Camera (ADFOSC) is.

✔️ It is installed on the 3.6-m Devasthal Optical Telescope (DOT) in Nainital district of Uttarakhand.

✔️ The ADFOSC spectroscope is the largest spectroscope of its kind in the current astronomical spectrograph in India.

✔️ The ADFOSC spectrograph can detect distant caesars and galaxies, supermassive black-holes around galaxies, and sources of blurred light from the region around cosmic explosions in a very young universe.

✔️ Until now, spectroscopes were imported from abroad at a high cost.

✔️ The 'Made in India' optical spectrograph is about 2.5 times less expensive than imported spectroscopes and can find sources of light with a photon-rate as low as 1 photon per second.

14. Elon Musk has topped in Hurun's Global Rich List 2021

️ The 10th edition of the Hurun Global Rich List 2021 was released, comprising 2,402 companies and 3228 billionaires from 68 countries.

✔️ The report showed that despite the COVID-19 epidemic, the world added 8 billionaires every week in 2020 and 421 in a year, bringing their total number to a record 3,288.

✔️ During the period under review, the total wealth of all billionaires worldwide increased by 32 percent, adding $ 3.5 trillion, with their total wealth reaching $ 14.7 trillion.

 

15. The entire railway network will be fully electrified by 2023
