International Roma Day: 8 April

️ On 8 April 2019, International Roma Day was celebrated all over the world including the European Roma Rights Center.
️ The Roma are the most disadvantaged ethnic group in Europe. Whose fundamental rights are still being violated regularly.
️ The Roma ethnic group is a victim of racist violence and in Europe, the group is discriminated against in employment, education, health care and public and social services.

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare: Launch of Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP)
️ Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan launched the Integrated Health Information Forum (IHIP) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
️ The Integrated Health Information Platform is the next generation highly sophisticated version of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP) currently being used.
️ The new version of IHIP will have data entry and management for India's disease surveillance program.
️ Now it will monitor 33 diseases as compared to the earlier 18 diseases.
️ This will ensure near real-time data in digital mode, which will be accomplished with paper-mode working methods.


Karl Built: WHO Special Envoy Appointed for ACT-Accelerator
️ Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), has delegated Carl Bildt as the WHO’s Special Envoy for Access to the COVID-19 Tools Accelerator (ACT-Accelerator).
️ Built will replace Nozzi Okonzo-Iweala and Andrew Vitti as special envoys.
️ He will help lead the collective debate, mobilize support and resources for the ACT-accelerator in his new role, so that it can deliver against its strategy for 2021.
️ ACT-Accelerator, according to the WHO website, is a global collaboration for the development, production, and equal access to novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) testing, treatment, and vaccines.
️ It brings together governments, scientists, businesses, civil society and philanthropic and global health organizations.
️ These include the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, CEPI, FIND, Gavi, The Global Fund, Unitade, Welcome, WHO and World Bank.


Mukesh Ambani: Asia's Richest Person
️ Mukesh Ambani, president of Reliance Industries, has reclaimed his place as Asia's richest man.
️ He left behind Chinese investor and philanthropist Jack Ma, who by 2020 was the richest person in the region.
️ India's richest person and Asia's richest person Ambani has been ranked 10th in the list of global billionaires.
️ He reclaimed his place with assets of $ 84.5 billion.


DRDO: Advanced Chaff Technology Developed for the Protection of Naval Ships
✔️ The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has built up a high level Chaff Technology to ensure maritime boats against rocket assaults.
️ The development of advanced chaff technology by DRDO Lab is another step towards self-reliant India.
️ The chaff is a passive spendy electronic replication technique that is used worldwide to protect naval vessels from enemy radar and radio frequency (RF) missile seekers.
️ The importance of this development lies in the fact that a very small amount of chaff material deployed in the air acts as a decay to protect enemy missiles for the safety of ships.


RBI: GSAP 1.0 announced
️ The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced a Secondary Market Government Security Acquisition Program (GSAP 1.0) on 7 April 2021.
️ The central bank will buy government bonds worth 1 trillion rupees from the secondary market in the first quarter of this financial year.
️ The principal acquisition of Rs 25,000 crore will happen on 15 April 2021.

RBI: Repo rate kept at 4%
️ The Monetary Policy Committee of the Reserve Bank of India has unanimously voted to keep the repo rate and reverse repo rate at 4 and 3.3.5 percent respectively.
️ The bi-monthly monetary policy was announced on 7 April 2021 by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.
️ The projection of real GDP growth for 2021-22 has been retained at 10.5 percent, up from 26.2 percent in Q1 and 8.3 percent in Q2.


LG Manoj Sinha: Launch of JKPW-OMMAS
️ In Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha launched JK Public Works - Online Management,  Monitoring and Accounting System (JKPW-OMMAS) on 6 April 2021.
️ He also launched two apps of Jammu and Kashmir Public Works Department- 'Hamari Sadak' and 'Tamir Tarkhi'.
️ People can register and track their complaints regarding the PW department through the 'Our Road' app.


Jammu and Kashmir: world's highest railway arch bridge
️ Construction of the world's highest railway bridge in Jammu and Kashmir, the height of which is 359 meters above the bottom of the river Chenab, was completed.
 The 1.3-km-long scaffold is expected to support availability with the Kashmir Valley and is being developed at an expense of Rs 1,486 crore as a feature of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail routelink (USBRL) project.
️ The construction of the Chenab bridge was declared as a national project in 2002.
️ Indian Railways is developing the notorious Arch Bridge over the Chenab River as a feature of the USBRL undertaking to interface the Kashmir Valley to the remainder of the country.
️ This bridge is 1315 meters long.
️ It is the highest railway bridge in the world, 359 meters above the level of the river bed.
✔️ It will be 35 meters higher than the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris (France).
️ The total weight of the arch is 10,619 metric tons.

IMF: India's GDP growth forecast for FY22 revised up to 12.5%
️ The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has increased the growth of the Indian economy from 100 basis points to 12.5 percent for FY 2021-22.
️ GDP growth for FY23 is estimated at 6.9 percent.
️ The revised forecast was published in the IMF's World Economic Outlook.
️ Among the major world economies, India is the only country which is projected to grow at double digit rate during FY22.


Radheshyam Khemka, leader of Geeta Press, died
️ Radheshyam Khemka, the president of Geeta Press, has passed away.

Dr. Fatima Zakaria passed away
️ Dr. Fatima Zakaria, a renowned educationist, veteran journalist and president of Maulana Azad Campus,  Aurangabad's prestigious educational institution, died in April 2021.
️ He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2006 for outstanding contribution to education and educational reforms.
️ She was the wife of the late Shri Rafiq Zakaria, former Union Minister and founder of Azad College Campus.
