International Translation Day: 30 September

International Translation Day is celebrated every year on 30 September.

The day celebrates the work of language translation professionals, facilitating dialogue, understanding and collaboration, contributing to the development and strengthening of world peace and security.

The day also marks the Feast of Saint Jerome, the translator of the Bible, who is considered the patron saint of translators.

The theme of International Translation Day 2021 is "Translation and Indigenous Languages".

The International Federation of Translators (FIT) was established in 1953, and ITD was first celebrated in 1991

 

World Heart Day: 29 September

World Heart Day is observed annually on 29 September to draw people's attention to heart disease and related health issues.

The day observed annually creates awareness about cardio-vascular disease including heart disease and stroke and throws light on preventive and control measures.

The day was created by the World Heart Association to raise awareness about cardio-vascular disease including heart disease and stroke.

This year the theme of World Heart Day is "Use Heart to Connect".

World Health Day was first established in 1999 by the World Heart Federation (WHF) in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO).

The idea for the annual event was conceived by Antoine Bayes de Luna, president of the WHF from 1997–2011.

Originally, World Heart Day was celebrated on the last Sunday of September, with the first celebration taking place on September 24, 2000.

 

195th Gunners Day: 28 September 2021

All artillery units and formations of the Southern Command of the Indian Army celebrated the 195th Gunners Day on 28 September 2021.

The date relates to the establishment of the Royal Indian Artillery as a part of the Bombay Presidency that took place on 28 September 1827.

The organization was named 5 Bombay Battery.

He participated in the First-Afghan War which took place from 1839 to 1842

 

International Food Loss and Waste Awareness Day: 29 September

In order to promote and implement global efforts to address the issue of food wastage, from 2020, 29 September is observed as the International Day of Awareness about Food Loss and Waste.

The United Nations General Assembly designated 29 September as the International Day for Awareness of Food Loss and Waste in 2019.

The theme of 2021 is: "Stop food loss and waste. For the people. For the planet".

The main objective of this day is to work towards addressing the problem of climate change through sustainable food habits as well as take steps towards zero hunger along with responsible consumption and production.

In 2019, the 74th United Nations General Assembly designated 29 September as the International Day for Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, recognizing the fundamental role of sustainable food production in promoting food security and nutrition.

 

Fumio Kishida: Japan's next PM

Japan's former foreign minister, Fumio Kishida, has won the ruling party's leadership election, virtually ensuring that he will become the country's next prime minister.

Kishida won 257 votes in a runoff to defeat Taro Kono, a popular vaccine minister who previously held the positions of defense and foreign minister.

The 64-year-old will replace outgoing party leader Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, who is stepping down after serving just one year after taking office last September.

Kishida previously served as LDP policy chief and was foreign minister from 2012–17, during which he negotiated agreements with Russia and South Korea, with whom Japan's ties are often cold.

Jitendra Singh: Launched AMRUT Grand Challenge Program titled “Janacare”

“AmritGrand Challenge Program” titled “Janacare” was launched on 28 September 2021.

It has been launched to identify 75 startup innovations in telemedicine, digital health, AI, blockchain and other technologies.

It was launched by the Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh at the 10th Biotech Innovators Meet of the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council.

 

Assam government will acquire the assets of Hindustan Paper

The Assam government will acquire the assets of two closed mills of Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited and provide a relief package of ₹570 crore to its employees.

An agreement has also been reached in this regard.

As per the agreement, the Assam government will approach the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) through the official liquidator to acquire all the assets of the mills.

The Cachar paper mill at Panchgram in Hailakandi district has been closed since October 2015, while the Naugaon paper mill at Jagiroad in Morigaon district has been closed since March 2017.

 

Haryana: Ban on gutkha and pan masala

The ban on gutkha and pan masala in Haryana has been extended for one more year.

In Haryana, there will be a ban on the manufacture, storage and distribution of gutkha and pan masala for one year.

These orders have been issued to all the District Deputy Commissioners, all Superintendents of Police, all Civil Surgeons, all Designated Officers and all Food and Security Officers of the state.

Now from 7 September 2021 to 7 September 2022, there will be a ban on the manufacture, storage and distribution of tobacco and nicotine (gutkha, pan masala) as ingredients in any food product of the state of Haryana.

 

Assam: Judima rice wine gets GI tag

'Judima', a home-made rice wine made by the Dimasa tribe of Assam, has become the first traditional wine in the Northeast to receive a Geographical Indication (GI) tag.

Wine made by steaming glutinous rice and mixing it with traditional herbs has a distinctly sweet taste and takes about a week to prepare.

GI tag is awarded to products belonging to a specific geographical origin.

 

America: won the Ryder Cup golf tournament

The United States have won the 2021 Ryder Cup after scoring the final half-point for newcomer Colin Morikawa's 19-9 victory.

This is the biggest difference in the history of the Ryder Cup since the introduction of the 28-point format.

It is the first time since 1979 and 1983 that Team USA has won back-to-back home Ryder Cups since victories at Hazeltine in 2016.

The Americans lost in 2018 in France and 7 of the last 10 Ryder Cups against Europe, so a major 2021 win could turn the tide in the rivalry.

 

ICC: Theme anthem of T20 World Cup launched

The International Cricket Council has launched a campaign film featuring Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli and West Indies captain Kieron Pollard's 'Avatar' along with the official anthem of the upcoming T20 World Cup.

The song, composed by Bollywood music director Amit Trivedi, is an animated film featuring young fans from across the globe engaged in T20 cricket and some of the biggest superstars of the game.

The tournament begins on October 17 in Oman and the UAE, with the finals to be played in Dubai on November 14.

Indian captain Kohli leads a group of players brought to life as 'avatars' in animation, who interact with each other.

Kohli is accompanied by fellow defending champion West Indies captain Pollard as well as Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and Afghanistan's Rashid Khan.

Launched in association with ICC's Global Broadcast Partner Star Sports, the film will premiere on Thursday across the world on the social media handles of ICC, BCCI and Star Sports.

 

NABARD: Loan scheme approved for yak rearing

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has approved a credit scheme for yak rearing in Arunachal Pradesh.

This will help the shepherds to get loans for this purpose and strengthen their livelihood.

The scheme was developed by the National Research Center on Yak (NRCY) at Dirang in West Kameng district.

NRCY comes under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

 

RBI : 2 crore fine on RBL Bank

The Reserve Bank of India has imposed a penalty of Rs 2 crore on RBL Bank for non-compliance with the provisions of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.

The RBI said the penalty has been imposed in exercise of the powers vested under the provisions of section 47A(1)(c) read with section 46(4)(i) of the Act.

An investigation by the RBI revealed that the private lender was non-compliant in opening five savings deposit accounts for a co-operative bank.

The Reserve Bank of India also imposed a penalty of Rs 11 lakh on the Jammu and Kashmir State Co-operative Bank, Srinagar for inadequacy in regulatory compliance.

According to the report, the J&K State Co-operative Bank had opened branches without prior permission from RBI in violation of Section 23 read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.

 

Piramal Group: Acquired Dewan Housing Finance Corporation (DHFL)

Piramal Group has completed the acquisition of housing finance firm Dewan Housing Finance Corporation (DHFL) for a total payment of Rs 34,250 crore.

As a part of the process, Piramal Capital and Housing Finance Limited (PCHFL) will merge with DHFL.

The company will provide services like loans for used cars and two wheelers; Education loan for online courses, etc.

In January 2021, 94% of DHFL's creditors voted in favor of Piramal's resolution plan.

The merged entity will be 100% owned by Piramal Enterprises Limited.

The headquarter of Piramal Enterprises Limited is in Mumbai.

 

North Korea successfully test-fired a hypersonic missile named 'Hwasong-8'

North Korea tested a newly developed hypersonic missile on 29 September 2021.

North Korea fired missiles from its east coast toward the sea.

The missile, named Hwasong-8, fulfilled its technical goals.

The Hwasong series of missiles use liquid propellant engines.

This was the first test of a liquid propellant missile in North Korea since November 2017.
