National Voluntary Blood Donation Day is observed every year on 1 October.

Sourav Bhattacharya of Delhi Golf Club has emerged as the winner of the 1st Andhra Pradesh Amateur Golf Championship.

Arjun Bhati and Rohan Dhole Patil were declared the first and second runners-up respectively.

The championship was held from 28 September to 1 October 2021.

The showpiece was organized under the aegis of Indian Golf Union (IGU).

The first Andhra Pradesh Amateur Golf Championship was held in Visakhapatnam.

It was organized by East Point Golf Club (EPGC).

 

PM Modi launches Jal Jeevan Mission app, National Jal Jeevan Kosh

PM Narendra Modi launched the Jal Jeevan Mission mobile application on 2 October 2021.

Chacha Chaudhary has been declared as the mascot of the Namami Gange program.

The decision was taken in the 37th Executive Committee meeting of National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) chaired by Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Director General, NMCG.

NMCG has tied up with Diamond Toons for the development and distribution of comics, e-comics and animated videos.

The 'Namami Gange Programme', an integrated conservation mission, was approved as a 'flagship program' by the Union Government in June 2014 with a budget outlay of Rs 20,000 crore.

It aims to fulfill the twin objectives of effective eradication of pollution, conservation and rejuvenation of National Ganga River.

 

Leh: World's largest Khadi national flag inaugurated

The world's largest Khadi national flag was installed in Leh on 2 October 2021 on the occasion of the 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The flag was inaugurated by Lt Governor of Ladakh RK Mathur.

The tricolor, 225 feet long and 150 feet wide, weighs about 1,000 kg.

It has been prepared by 57 Engineer Regiment of the Indian Army.

 

Military Nursing Service celebrated 96th Raising Day

The Military Nursing Service (MNS) celebrated its 96th Raising Day on 1 October 2021.

A permanent nursing service was established as a part of the Indian Army on October 1, 1926.

The service was named as Indian Military Nursing Service (IMNS).

The promulgation of a military ordinance on 15 September 1943 established the MNS as a part of the Armed Forces permanently.

 

NITI Aayog: 'State Nutrition Profile' report released

NITI Aayog released its “State Nutrition Profile” report on October 1, 2021. In this report, 19 states and union territories obtained their nutrition profiles.

The State Nutrition Profile (SNP) report includes a comprehensive compilation of important data that can positively influence policy decisions and facilitate research in that area.

It analyzes data on wasting (low weight for height), stunting, underweight, overweight and anemia, in addition to diabetes and high blood pressure.

The SNP has been prepared by NITI Aayog in collaboration with UNICEF, International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), Indian Institute of Population Sciences (IIPS) and Institute of Economic Development (IEG).

It provides comprehensive information about nutritional outcomes, immediate and underlying determinants and interventions based on rounds 3, 4 and 5 of the National Family Health Survey (NFHS).

The report highlights the country's best and worst performing districts, the most burdened districts as well as the top coverage districts.

It has covered what is important for children, women and men as well as identified areas where the state can improve further.

 

Ministry of AYUSH: Developed “Bal Raksha Kit”

All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) under Ministry of AYUSH has developed “Bal Raksha Kit” which is an immunity boosting kit.

This kit has been developed keeping in mind the third wave of coronavirus disease.

It is an immunity boosting kit to protect children up to the age of 16 from COVID-19 infection.

On the occasion of National Ayurveda Day on 2nd November 2021, about 10,000 kits will be distributed free of cost.

This kit has been developed with the aim of boosting the immunity of children to help them fight against SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes the COVID-19 disease.

This kit is important because there is no COVID-19 vaccine available for children in India yet.

The hair protection kit contains a syrup made of Tulsi, Giloy, Liquorice, Cinnamon and Dried Grapes, which has amazing medicinal properties.

This kit also includes Annu Tel, Sitopaladi and Chyawanprash.

These products help in boosting the immunity level.

The kit has been developed under the strict guidelines of the Ministry of AYUSH while it was manufactured by the Indian Medicine Pharmaceutical Corporation Limited (IMPCL) in Uttarakhand.

 

AUSINDEX : India-Australia biennial maritime exercise

India and Australia participated in the biennial maritime series titled 'AUSINDEX' on 30 September 2021.

The exercise will help the Royal Australian Navy and the Indian Navy to strengthen their “inter-operability capability” by sharing best practices.

It will also help in developing a 'common understanding of procedures for maritime security operations'.

The AUSINDEX maritime exercise is conducted alternately in India and Australia.

This fourth edition is being held in Northern Australia.

The exercise is part of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of 2020 between the two countries.
