1. Bihar Day: 22 March

️ Every year, "Bihar Day" is observed on 22 March.

️ This year is the 109th Foundation Day of Bihar Day.

️ The day is made as a public holiday across the state.

️ Bihar Day: - Bihar was carved out of Bengal on 22 March 1912 by the British government.

️ March 24 marks the birth anniversary of legendary Carnatic musician Muthuswamy Dixitar.

️ Dixitar, Shyama Shastri and Tyagi were called the musical trinity of Carnatic music.

️ His compositions are mostly in Sanskrit.

️ He also composed some of his works in Manipravalam (which is a combination of Sanskrit and Tamil languages).

 

3. Birth anniversary of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia: 23 March

️ On 23 March, the birth anniversary of freedom fighter and socialist leader Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia is celebrated.

️ Lohia was born on 23 March 1910.

️ He was an activist and a socialist political leader in the Indian independence movement.

️ During the last phase of British rule in India, he worked with Congress Radio which till 1942 was broadcast in secret from various locations in Bombay.

 

4. Ustad Bismillah Khan's birth anniversary: ​​March 21, 2021

️ On 21 March 2021, the birth anniversary of world famous shehnai player Ustad Bismillah Khan was celebrated.

️ In 1950, he played the shehnai at the first Republic Day celebrations.

️ He was the first Indian to perform at Lincoln Center Hall in the United States.

 

5. Ramesh Pokhriyal: CBSE Evaluation Framework Released

️ Union Minister of Education Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on 24 March 2021 launched the evaluation framework of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for science, mathematics and English.

️ The framework is part of the 'Competency-Based Education Project' of the CBSE and the British Council.

️ CBSE board 10th class examination will end on 7 June 2021 while class 12th examination will end on 11 June.

 

6. International Day for Right to Truth concerning Gross Human Rights Violations and Dignity of Victims

️ The International Day for the Right to the Truth Concerning Gross Human Rights Violations and for the Dignity of Victims is observed annually on 24 March every year in relation to gross human rights violations and the dignity of victims.

️ The day is celebrated every year on 24 March to pay tribute to "Monsignor Oscar Arnulfo Romero" as he was assassinated on 24 March 1980.

️ He was actively critical of the human rights violations of the most vulnerable persons in El Salvador.

️ The purpose of the International Day for the Right to Truth concerning gross human rights violations and the dignity of victims is to honor the memory of victims of gross and systematic human rights violations.

7. ICICI Bank: Immediate EMI facility started

️ ICICI Bank has announced the introduction of instant EMI (Equated Monthly Installments) facility on its Internet banking platform.

️ It is the first bank in the industry to do so.

️ This facility, called 'EMI @ Internet Banking', aims to provide increased power to pre-approved customers, allowing them to convert high value transactions of up to Rs 5 lakh into easy monthly installments.

 

8. Andhra Pradesh: India's first government-run animal ambulance network launched

️ The state government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to set up "India's first government-operated ambulance network" for animals.

️ This decision has been taken to further promote animal husbandry and veterinary sector in the state.

️ The ambulance network is intended as one of its main missions to provide them with the appropriate animal health care to help reach troubled animals.

️ The animal husbandry department was directed to set up a mobile ambulance veterinary clinic in each assembly constituency.

 

9. PGCIL: Establishment of e-tender portal - PRANIT

️ Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, a central public undertaking, has set up an e-tendering portal - PRANIT.

️ This portal will reduce paperwork, ease of operation and make the tendering process more transparent.

️ POWERGRID is now the only organization in India to have an eProcurement solution on SAP Supplier Relationship Management, which complies with all the requirements of security and transparency.

 

10. Taiwan: Freedom Pineapple "campaign begins

️ Taiwan's Foreign Minister Joseph Wu launched a "Freedom Pineapple" campaign on Twitter.

️ It has been launched by China to condemn the politically-driven ban on pineapple imports from Taiwan.

️ The Chinese government banned the import of pineapple from Taiwan in the year 2021, just before the start of the season for pineapple.

️ The Chinese government has prohibited imports, saying that pineapples were found to be contaminated with import pests.

 

11. India: second most attractive market

️ India ranked second among the large emerging markets in February 2021.

️ For the second consecutive month, India has managed to stay on top.

️ India was the only country to report positive GDP growth figures in the December 2020 quarter, excluding China and Turkey.

️ The Philippines (-8.3%) performed the worst.

 

12. Delhi: Meeting of "Permanent Indus Commission" 2021 held

️ A "Permanent Indus Commission" meeting will be held in New Delhi between India and Pakistan regarding the sharing of the Indus River water.

️ Indus Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Saxena will lead the Indian delegation.

️ On the Pakistan side, his counterpart Syed Muhammad Meher Ali will present his side.

️ Permanent Indus Commission: - It was established under the Indus Water Treaty of 1960.

 

13. Ramesh Pokhriyal: Shaheed Bhagat Singh memorial inaugurated in New Delhi

️ The Union Minister of Education, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ inaugurated the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Smarak in New Delhi on 23 March 2021.

️ It was inaugurated by the Delhi University in an event organized on 'Martyr's Day' to pay tribute to our national icons of the Indian national movement - Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivram Rajguru on the completion of 90 years of martyrdom.

 

14. ISRO: India's first free-space quantum communication demonstration

️ In a first of its kind initiative, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has successfully tested Free-Space Quantum Communication at a distance of 300 meters, with several technologies developed in the country.

️ The demonstration used live video conferencing, which took place between two line-of-site buildings within the campus at the Space Applications Center (SAC), Ahmedabad, using quantum-of-encrypted signals.

️ This experiment was done at night to ensure that there is no interference from direct sunlight.

️ This is a major achievement for unconditional secure satellite data-communication using quantum technologies.

 

15. Russia: 38 satellites launched in space for 18 countries

️ The Russian space agency 'Rosskosmos' successfully orbited 38 foreign satellites on a carrier rocket Soyuz-2.1 from the Bakonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

️ The 38 satellites were from 18 countries, including South Korea, Japan, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Italy and Brazil.

️ One of these satellites, called 'Challenge-1', was the first satellite made entirely in Tunisia by the Telnet telecommunications group.

️ In 2018, a Soyuz rocket carrying a Russian Cosmonat and NASA astronaut failed mid-flight, forcing the crew to make an emergency landing. Both survived without any injuries.

 

16. Acclaimed Egyptian feminist Naval Sadvi dies

️ A famous Egyptian feminist, psychiatrist and novelist, Nawal Saadawi, whose writings sparked controversy in a decades-long conservative society, has passed away.

️ She was an avid advocate of women's rights in Egypt and the Arab world.

️ In 2005, he was awarded the Inana International Prize in Belgium, a year after receiving the North-South Award from the Council of Europe.

️ In 2020, Time magazine named her to the 100 Women of the Year list.

️ She was the founder and president of the Arab Women's Solidarity Association and co-founder of the Arab Association for Human Rights.
